Tucked away behind a curtain of bamboo in the farthest, most tranquil corner of Conrad Bali, RIN feels like a secret you almost don’t want to share. The restaurant has quietly reopened, bringing a renewed passion for contemporary Japanese cuisine paired with Conrad’s unmistakable flair for understated luxury. What's New Bali just had the pleasure of joining their Japanese Buffet Dinner, and this was one of those culinary affairs that gracefully balances serenity, spectacle, and satisfaction.

The Ambience: Calm, Classy, and a Little Bit Hidden
Finding RIN is part of the charm. Past the resort's main area, the path leads to a serene enclave surrounded by leafy greens and the soft sound of water. Inside, we found a thoughtful layout with indoor and outdoor seating, each offering a different flavor of indulgence. Indoors feels intimate, softly lit, and air-conditioned, while the outdoor terrace hugs the Conrad Suite pool, perfect for those who enjoy dinner with a side of tropical breeze.

There’s something beautifully measured about the atmosphere. Tables are deliberately spaced to give every group their own private world. Conversations hum quietly in the background, chopsticks click in rhythm, and it all feels far removed from the buzz and bustle of South Bali’s dining scene.
The Buffet: A Symphony of Umami
The buffet at RIN is a true celebration of Japanese cuisine, presenting each dish with the kind of care and balance that makes every bite feel meaningful. We started light with agedashi tofu sprinkled with shredded wakame, a silky little appetizer that set the tone for the night. Then came a plate of maki rolls, fresh and playful in color and texture, alongside a comforting bowl of miso soup.

Moving through the stations felt like flipping through chapters of a good novel. The sushi corner displayed gleaming cuts of sashimi, the ramen station filled the air with savory steam, and the grill offered skewers of beef, chicken, and fish, each brushed with one of three distinct Japanese sauces. We found ourselves lingering longer than we should at the skewer station because everything was grilled to smoky perfection.
Poolside Teppanyaki and Sweet Delight
And then there’s the teppanyaki. Set by the pool, we joined other diners at the chef’s counter as he worked the grill with practiced rhythm, turning premium cuts of meat, seafood, and vegetables into sizzling perfection. Watching the chef flip and slice with precision under the glow of pool lights made the experience feel almost cinematic. It’s impossible not to smile when you see your meal prepared with such confidence and flair.

Every buffet needs a grand finale, and RIN’s dessert corner delivers. We made a beeline for the gelato station, and yes, they have red bean and mochi gelato, both dangerously addictive. The selection of cakes and pastries is equally tempting, from matcha-infused sweets to delicate slices of Japanese cheesecake that practically melt on the tongue.
Drinks and Pairings
RIN’s drink list mirrors its food philosophy, refined but relaxed. Guests can go for classic liquors, crafted cocktails, or signature mocktails, though we opted for iced sencha to stay true to the Japanese spirit. The crisp green tea cut through the richness of the food perfectly and kept the palate refreshed.

Dining at RIN feels like uncovering a secret chapter of Conrad Bali. The setting is intimate, the flavors are honest, and the whole experience unfolds like a quiet celebration of balance and beauty. Between the teppanyaki theatrics, the elegant buffet spread, and the soft poolside ambience, RIN has managed to make Japanese dining in Bali feel both authentic and luxuriously effortless.
