On a Friday evening in early June, Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort welcomes Episode 04 of the Daily Social Culinary Journey, a guest-chef series that continues to showcase some of Bali’s most compelling culinary talents.
This edition features HOME by Chef Wayan,, the celebrated Pererenan restaurant led by Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa. Renowned for his modern approach to Balinese cuisine, Chef Wayan has built a devoted following through dishes that honor local traditions while embracing contemporary techniques and presentation.

For one evening only, guests will be invited to discover a collaborative dining experience that brings together the creativity of Chef Wayan and the vibrant beachfront setting of Daily Social, celebrating the richness of Indonesian flavors through a fresh and distinctive perspective.
It is, in many ways, a homecoming. Chef Wayan was born in Nusa Penida and trained at Blue Hill in upstate New York before returning to Bali to help build the culinary programs at Potato Head Beach Club, where he rose to Culinary Director and oversaw the restaurants Kaum, Ijen, and the plant-based concept Tanaman. HOME, his first restaurant under his own name, opened in Pererenan as something deliberately smaller and more personal: a single dining room, a long communal table, food that traces the recipes of his mother and the ingredients of the island where he grew up.
Chef Wayan has said of his work at HOME “They are the ones I grew up with, the ones my mother taught me. What changes is the way we serve them, the way we tell the story.”
A Culinary Journey, Continued
The Daily Social Culinary Journey was conceived as a series rather than a one-off, each episode dedicated to a different kitchen and a different idea of what Indonesian dining can be. Episode 04 is its first chapter built explicitly around modern Balinese cuisine, and the choice of HOME as guest kitchen is a pointed one. Chef Wayan’s cooking is not the heavily decorated, hotel-resort version of Balinese food familiar to international visitors. It is closer to the home table: bolder in spice, lighter in technique, and unapologetically rooted in the produce of the island.

For one night, that sensibility will travel from Pererenan to Kuta. Diners can expect a tasting menu drawn from the HOME repertoire, refined for the occasion and plated with the kind of restraint that has come to define Chef Wayan’s recent work, dishes built around seafood, smoked proteins, coconut broths, and the layered sambals that anchor his kitchen. The full menu will be revealed closer to the event.
Paired with Sababay
The evening is powered by Sababay Winery, the East Bali producer that has done as much as any single label to legitimize Indonesian wine on its own terms. Optional pairings will accompany both the three-course and five course menus, designed to track the rhythm of Chef Wayan’s cooking from the lighter, brighter openers through the deeper, smokier mid-course and into dessert.
“The Culinary Journey series was built to bring Bali’s most distinctive kitchens into conversation with ours,” says Alvin Aurellius, Assistant F&B Marketing Manager at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. “Episode 04 with Chef Wayan is a chance to host one of the most respected voices in modern Balinese cooking, and to do it in a way that feels generous rather than formal.”
