He is the founder of SG Group, a bar culture company that operates award-winning bars across Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, and beyond, including renowned venues like The SG Club and Speak Low. Gokan moved from Tokyo to New York in 2006, where he spent years refining his craft and later went on to launch his own internationally recognized concepts.

Gokan rose to international prominence after winning the Bacardi Global Legacy Cocktail Competition in 2012 with his signature cocktail Speak Low and has since received major industry accolades such as International Bartender of the Year at Tales of the Cocktail and Altos Bartender's Bartender in Asia's 50 Best Bars. His work blends Japanese ingredients and cultural philosophy with innovative mixology, making him a leader in elevating cocktail culture worldwide.
