Fred Perry DNA Night 2026:
Exploring Fred Perry’s DNA Through Hero Styles and the Spirit of Subculture
Fred Perry DNA Night 2026 successfully brought together communities and music enthusiasts at Urban Forest Cipete, South Jakarta, featuring performances by MERAK, Alkateri, Grrrl Gang, The Adams, and Agrikulture, alongside various activities celebrating the distinctive character of Fred Perry.
Some garments eventually develop a life of their own beyond their original purpose. A sports jacket can move from the playing field to the streets, tennis shoes can become part of everyday wear, and a shirt can be worn and interpreted differently by different communities. Over time, these pieces come to represent more than what people wear; they also reflect the music, style, and culture that grow around them.
This journey has long been part of Fred Perry’s story. Originating in the world of tennis, several pieces that have become part of the brand’s history have found their place in various scenes and subcultures, shaping a distinctive identity that continues to evolve from one generation to the next. This spirit was at the heart of Fred Perry DNA Night 2026, held on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at Urban Forest Cipete, South Jakarta.
This year, Fred Perry’s DNA was expressed through several hero styles that have become integral to the brand’s identity and uniform: The Fred Perry Shirt, The Tennis Bomber, The Taped Track Jacket, The Barrel Bag, and The Tennis Shoe. These five pieces represent how Fred Perry has evolved from its sportswear roots to find its place on the streets, in music, and across various communities and subcultures.

Beyond the identity conveyed by the Laurel Wreath, each hero style has its own journey and character. The Fred Perry Shirt, distinguished by its signature twin-tipped collar and Laurel Wreath, remains one of the brand’s most recognisable pieces. Meanwhile, The Tennis Bomber brings a sportswear sensibility into a more casual silhouette, while The Taped Track Jacket demonstrates how sporting elements can intersect with different music scenes and street styles.
This journey is also reflected in The Barrel Bag and The Tennis Shoe, two pieces that have evolved from functional essentials into everyday staples. When adopted by different communities, each piece takes on new contexts and meanings. From sport to music, and from one subculture to another, these hero styles have become part of a uniform that continues to find new interpretations.
Unita Fatimah, Brand Manager of Fred Perry Indonesia, said, “For Fred Perry, DNA is represented through the brand’s Hero Styles, which mark its evolution from sportswear to streetwear. These styles have been adopted by generations and have become shorthand for sport, music, and subculture.”
These pieces reflect how Fred Perry maintains its distinctive character while continuing to evolve alongside the communities that wear them. With roots in sport, the brand’s DNA extends beyond the playing field, moving with the changing styles, music, and cultures around it.
The same spirit is reflected in music, which has played an important role in Fred Perry’s journey alongside subcultures. At DNA Night 2026, several names from Indonesia’s music scene took the stage, each bringing their own character and interpretation. MERAK delivered a blend of vintage psychedelic rock and alternative music, while Alkateri brought an indie-pop sound infused with shoegaze and ambient post-rock influences.
Hailing from Yogyakarta, Grrrl Gang performed their guitar-driven melodies and DIY aesthetic, while The Adams and Agrikulture also joined the evening’s lineup. The diversity of musical styles demonstrated how Fred Perry’s relationship with music continues to evolve through different communities and generations.
Beyond the stage, DNA Night 2026 featured various elements that translated Fred Perry’s character into a more interactive experience. Set in Urban Forest Cipete, an open green space with an urban atmosphere, the event combined a relaxed environment with the energy of Jakarta’s creative scene.
Several installations were featured throughout the venue, including an immersive tunnel that brought Fred Perry’s visual elements into the space. A photobooth also gave visitors the opportunity to capture moments throughout the event and share them on their personal platforms.
Fred Perry’s connection to sport was further highlighted through a table tennis activation. Inspired by the brand’s longstanding relationship with racket sports, the area offered visitors and participating communities a space to play or watch matches together in a more casual setting.
As night fell, music selections by SCRUBS!, Glasloop, and Trip Do Brasil complemented the atmosphere with a range of sounds, from disco and house to hypnotic grooves and Brazilian music. Together with the evening’s performances and activities, the experience brought together three elements that have long defined Fred Perry’s journey: sport, music, and subculture.
“As Fred Perry approaches its 75th anniversary in 2027, the brand celebrates the timeless styles that define its legacy in sport, music, and subculture. By bringing together Indonesian musicians and subcultures, Fred Perry celebrates how its iconic styles continue to be embraced by every generation as timeless and authentic expressions of identity,” Unita added.
