Bandung, Indonesia – Bandung Independent School (BIS) recently welcomed parents and new families to its Head of School (HOS)/Parent Breakfast at Hilton Bandung, providing an opportunity for the community to connect, celebrate achievements, and learn more about the school’s continued growth and future developments.
The breakfast highlighted the important role parents and FoBIS volunteers play in strengthening the BIS community. Attendees received updates on key initiatives, including campus redevelopment, the Leave Your Legacy programme, covered court and auditorium projects, sports sponsorships, and community partnerships. The event also celebrated the generosity of Hospi Healthcare and its valuable support of BIS through sports sponsorship, helping to provide greater opportunities for our students to develop their skills and pursue their sporting passions.
The morning provided an opportunity to celebrate several recent achievements, including the BIS Refugee Learning Nest Club receiving the prestigious EARCOS Richard T. Krajczar Humanitarian Award, selected from more than 220 schools across East Asia. The $10,000 grant will support sports programmes for refugee teens in Bogor, with a focus on empowering girls and helping launch a GED programme for students without access to formal education.

Another significant achievement is that BIS has officially become an Award Center for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, providing students with opportunities to develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and valuable life skills beyond the classroom.
Parents also contributed to the ongoing review of BIS’s Mission, Vision, and Values, alongside feedback from students, faculty, staff, leadership, and the Board. This collaborative process will help ensure BIS’s guiding statements continue to reflect the school community and its aspirations for the future.
“We are grateful to our parents for their continued support and valuable contributions to the BIS community,” said Ms. Marci, Head of School. “Their participation in the review of our Mission, Vision, and Values is particularly important as we continue to shape the future of BIS together.”

The event also provided a warm welcome to new families, whose diverse perspectives and experiences continue to enrich the BIS community. BIS encourages all families to actively participate in school events, activities, and initiatives that help build a strong and connected school culture.
