Salt bread, or sogeum ppang in Korean, or shio pan in Japan, has quietly become one of Bali’s most popular pastry cravings lately. Known for its buttery flavor, crisp golden outer layer, and soft chewy inside, this simple bread is now everywhere across the island, from cozy hidden cafés to trendy bakeries. Some places keep it classic with the original version, while others get creative with flavors like garlic butter and even ube mochi. Craving some salt bread? These are some of the best places to enjoy salt bread in Bali. Enjoy!
Arabaked

Arabaked is known as one of the best places to enjoy salt bread in Bali. They prepare limited quantities daily, so it’s best to pre-order in advance. Their flavors range from original and double choco to kani mentai and ube mochi. A little tip, Arabaked often joins the Sunday Market at La Brisa, so come early to the market before everything sells out.

BUTTER-BEURRE

Known for their naturally leavened breads with 40 hours of slow fermentation and no commercial yeast added, Butter-Beurre serves sourdough salt bread, said to be the first of its kind in Bali. Because it uses sourdough, the bread has a slight sourness, with a crispy exterior and buttery inside. The original flavor is the favorite, but the garlic & blue cheese is also worth trying.
