Syrco BASÈ, the pioneering culinary hub in Ubud founded by two Michelin-starred chef Syrco Bakker, continues to gain recognition as one of Indonesia’s best dining destinations. This year, Syrco BASÈ earned a place in Tatler Dining Indonesia’s “20 Best Restaurants 2026” for the first time, while also receiving the Gold Award at the PRESTIGE Gourmet Awards Indonesia’s 30 Best Restaurants 2026 for the second consecutive year.


The recognitions reflect a period of continued evolution for Syrco BASÈ, which since opening in January 2024 has reimagined contemporary dining in Bali through its guiding principles of Traceability, Nature, and Transparency. Rooted in respect for Indonesia’s ingredients, culinary traditions, artisans, farmers, and fishers, the culinary hub has become known for experiences that connect guests to the origin, culture, and craft of every plate.

 


Tatler Dining Indonesia recently unveiled its highly anticipated “Indonesia’s 20 Best Restaurants 2026” list, celebrating craftsmanship and service across the archipelago’s dining landscape. The unranked selection highlights leading culinary establishments in Jakarta and Bali that are shaping the future of Indonesian gastronomy.


This month also marked the return of the PRESTIGE Gourmet Awards Indonesia, which honored the nation’s 30 best restaurants through a blind judging process designed to uphold fairness and integrity. Categorized into Gold, Silver, and Bronze distinctions, the awards were determined through anonymous votes cast independently by nearly 40 respected lifestyle figures, entrepreneurs, artists, culinary innovators, and designers from across Asia. Syrco BASÈ was named among only ten recipients of the Gold Award, marking its second consecutive year receiving the distinction.


For Chef Syrco Bakker, these recognitions are a celebration of his team, the restaurant itself, and the broader momentum surrounding Indonesian produce and gastronomy.

A New Chapter
The accolades arrive as Syrco BASÈ prepares for its next culinary chapter. In June 2026, the culinary hub will unveil a new menu at Syrco BASÈ Restaurant, offering a renewed exploration of Indonesia’s biodiversity, seasonality, and evolving culinary identity through Chef Syrco’s contemporary perspective.


Ahead of this launch, guests can also anticipate new experiences at KU culinary atelier and Syrco BASÈ Bar, both set to introduce refreshed menus by the end of May 2026. At KU culinary atelier, the intimate fine dining concept within Syrco BASÈ, the upcoming evolution will continue its focus on immersive storytelling and deeply personal encounters with ingredients and technique. Meanwhile, Syrco BASÈ Bar is preparing to introduce a new bar food menu inspired by Indonesia’s diverse ingredients, local flavours, and the convivial spirit of shared dining and drinking culture.


Together, these upcoming developments mark the continued evolution of Syrco BASÈ as a living creative space where cuisine, culture, design, and community intersect. “We are always learning, refining, and growing,” Chef Syrco shares. “For us, evolution is never about changing direction, but about deepening our connection to the land, the people around us, and the stories we want to tell through food and hospitality.
