Indonesia moves one step closer to the international sailing map with the inauguration of Bali Gapura Marina, the country’s first international-standard marina port. The name “Gapura,” meaning “gateway” in Balinese, reflects its role as a new entry point that blends rich local culture with world-class services.

Bali Gapura Marina marks Indonesia’s first international-standard marina, positioning Bali as a rising hub for global superyacht and luxury marine tourism.

Currently under development in Benoa, Bali, the marina is scheduled to feature 180 berths by the third quarter of 2026, including facilities for 50 superyachts measuring up to 90 meters. The development will also include a Premium Yacht Club, Crew Club, MICE facilities, F&B outlets, office spaces, and retail areas.

The Foundation Toward a Superyacht Destination by 2028

This project is a collaboration between PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo, through its subholding PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik, a state-owned enterprise. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 22 May 2025, with current construction focused on Dock B, the smallest of five planned docks.

Dock B construction began in September 2025, marked by the installation of 11 pontoon modules stretching 192 meters. Designed to support a minimum load of 500 kg per square meter, the dock will accommodate up to 48 yachts.

Following the launch of Dock B, pilot launches of Docks C and D are planned for early Q2 2026, with the full-service marina targeted for completion in 2028.

A New Gateway for Indonesia’s Marine Tourism

Spanning 33,000 square meters, Bali Gapura Marina is expected to become a catalyst for Indonesia’s marine tourism sector, which remains underutilized despite the nation’s vast archipelago of more than 17,000 islands.

Its strategic location, approximately 15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, positions it as an appealing gateway for travelers, yacht owners, and cruising enthusiasts alike.

As Indonesia’s first official gateway to the international sailing network, Bali Gapura Marina will operate in accordance with international marina standards and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

Toward a Southeast Asian Superyacht Hub

Bali Gapura Marina is being closely monitored as a pilot project supporting Indonesia’s ambition to enter the growing global luxury marine and superyacht tourism market.

While Indonesia boasts extraordinary maritime landscapes, it has yet to develop a marina capable of delivering global service and safety standards. Through this project, Pelindo demonstrates its commitment to building an integrated, resilient, and sustainable tourism port ecosystem, further strengthening Indonesia’s position as a global maritime tourism destination. The development is expected to attract higher-quality international visitors to Bali.
