InterContinental Bali Resort is pleased to announce its collaboration with The Chowk at Taman Gita, an Indian Gourmet House, now open within the resort’s Taman Gita Restaurant. Bringing together centuries of culinary heritage with contemporary elegance, The Chowk at Taman Gita introduces the vibrant and authentic flavours of India to Jimbaran, offering an immersive dining experience set within one of Bali’s most distinguished beachfront destinations.
Inspired by the word “Chowk,” meaning a crossroads or gathering square, the restaurant embodies the spirit of India’s bustling marketplaces, places where food, culture and community converge. Rooted in the philosophy that food is more than nourishment, it is memory, ritual, celebration and connection, The Chowk at Taman Gita honours time-tested recipes and regional traditions while presenting them with refined, modern sensibility for today’s discerning traveller.
Set within the tranquil surroundings, the restaurant offers a warm yet sophisticated ambience, accommodating up to 220 guests. Elegant indoor seating is complemented by a charming semi-outdoor setting overlooking the pond, creating an atmosphere that is immersive, inviting and thoughtfully curated. The design seamlessly blends Indian artistry with Balinese hospitality, reflecting understated luxury and attention to detail.
The menu presents a curated journey across India’s diverse regions, featuring signature North and South Indian specialities alongside Indo-Chinese favourites and beloved street food classics. Guests can savour bold spices, slow-cooked gravies, hand-rolled breads, and vibrant chaat selections, as well as handcrafted traditional sweets prepared by a dedicated mithai chef. Each dish reflects a balance of authenticity and artistry, celebrating the depth and richness of India’s gastronomic heritage. Leading the kitchen is Chef Dhoom Singh, who brings over 25 years of expertise in Indian cuisine. He is joined by Chef Suresh, the restaurant’s Chaat and Dessert Chef with two decades of experience in Indonesia, alongside talented chefs Himanshu, Vijendra, Sanjay, Chef Avtar and Chef Mahesh.
Together, they craft a dining experience that showcases culinary precision and passion. Supporting the team is Operations Manager Pradeep Singh, ensuring seamless service and an elevated guest journey.
Designed to host family celebrations, corporate gatherings, weddings, and intimate occasions, The Chowk at Taman Gita offers a versatile venue rooted in authenticity and enhanced by genuine hospitality. Open to both resort guests and the wider community or group, it further enriches Jimbaran’s evolving dining landscape with a distinctive Indian culinary offering.
