At the heart of Alaya Suites Ubud lies the "Dream of Alaya" concept, a design philosophy inspired by Catus Patha, the traditional Balinese principle that places the intersection of community, ritual, and daily life at the center of a village. This philosophy shapes the property's spatial journey, creating an environment where guests can experience a sense of harmony, connection, and belonging.
Architecturally, the property draws inspiration from Wayang Bali, the island's celebrated shadow puppetry tradition known for its layered narratives and graceful silhouettes. Curved forms, natural textures, and organic materials are woven throughout the design, while each floor reflects one of five natural elements: Surya (light), Bhumi (earth), Sagara (water), Jiva (living beings), and Akasha (air).
These influences are brought to life through handcrafted stonework, locally sourced andesite stone, Bandung Grey marble, teak wood furnishings, recycled ulin wood amenities, artisanal bamboo craftsmanship, handmade paper lighting crafted from pineapple and banana fibers, bespoke ceramic light fixtures and guest amenities created in collaboration with renowned Bali-based artisan studio Gaya Ceramic, and custom lino-cut artworks created exclusively for the property by Balinese artist I Kadek Septa Adi.
