An Australian-Asian restaurant in Uluwatu where good food, well-made drinks and unhurried dining come together naturally.

Uluwatu has become one of Bali's most exciting dining destinations, where no two restaurants feel quite the same. Among them is Sana, an Australian-Asian restaurant where good food, well-made drinks, and an inviting atmosphere carry effortlessly from slow breakfasts and long lunches to sunset cocktails and dinners that stretch well into the evening.

There's nothing loud about it. No gimmicks. Just a restaurant where the food, the atmosphere, and the people around the table do the talking.

The idea of arrival sits behind Sana. Not simply reaching a destination, but settling into a meal that unfolds at its own pace. Breakfast gives way to lunch, cocktails drift into dinner, but the feeling remains the same: easy, welcoming, and worth returning to.

The menu draws inspiration from Australian and Asian cuisines without feeling tied to either. It's ingredient-led, balanced, and approachable, allowing familiar flavours to take centre stage without unnecessary complexity.

Sana starts the day just as well as it ends it. Breakfast and brunch bring familiar favourites with a Sana point of view, from Miso Scrambled Eggs finished with spring onion relish, crispy shallots, coriander, and paratha roti, to Mushroom Toast layered with sautéed mushrooms, stracciatella, truffle oil, and crispy garlic. For something more indulgent, the Sana McMuffin stacks bacon, fried egg, barbecue sauce, American cheese, and a golden hash brown into a breakfast that's anything but ordinary.

As the day unfolds, sharing comes naturally.

The Tuna Crudo sets the tone with sashimi-grade tuna dressed in tangerine, yuzu, ginger, pickled shallots, herb oil, and crisp rice crackers, delivering bright, clean flavours that awaken the palate. Alongside it, Sana's Pan-Fried Focaccia layers creamy stracciatella with chilli crunch, spring onion, and nori, creating the kind of dish you'll keep reaching for long after you've promised yourself "just one more piece."

For larger plates, the Twice-Cooked Pork Belly balances five-spice pork with tamarind and turmeric caramel, lifted by pineapple coriander salsa for a sweet, tangy finish. The Korean Beef Saam invites diners to build their own wraps with sticky braised beef cheek, kimchi, pickles, lettuce cups, shiso, and perilla leaves, while the Coral Trout pairs pan-seared fish with silky dashi cream, roe, charred leek, and chives, letting the quality of the fish speak for itself.

The Rump Roast offers another standout, bringing together New York deli-inspired flavours with béarnaise, miso, wasabi herb oil, and pickled shallots. Even the Charred Cabbage stands confidently on its own, served with roasted sesame sauce, curry leaves, and toasted almonds to prove that simple ingredients, when treated with care, can be just as memorable as the main event.

To finish, the Pineapple Pie arrives warm with vanilla bean ice cream, butterscotch sauce, and praline, while the Coconut Panna Cotta offers something lighter, paired with watermelon mint granita, berry sherbet, and fragrant lemongrass syrup.

Behind the bar, the drinks are every bit as considered as the food. Signature cocktails such as the savoury Dirty Tora with dashi-infused gin and dabu-dabu brine, or the floral Fleur de Pisco layered with lemongrass, mango, calamansi, and lavender, sit alongside a carefully curated wine list that's just as suited to a quick aperitif as it is to an evening that unfolds at its own pace.

The setting is just as inviting. Warm timber, natural textures, and soft lighting create a space that's polished without ever feeling formal. The restaurant unfolds across a number of distinct spaces, from the lively bar and intimate wine lounge to the relaxed pool area and welcoming dining room, each offering its own way to settle in. By day, it's an easy place to linger over breakfast or lunch. As the afternoon fades, the atmosphere shifts naturally into sunset drinks, dinner, and evenings that feel lively without ever becoming overwhelming.

Uluwatu has no shortage of places to eat. What makes Sana stand out isn't a single signature dish or a spectacular view. It's how naturally everything comes together. Honest food. Great drinks. Genuine hospitality. An atmosphere that invites you to stay a little longer than you planned.

The best way to understand Sana is to experience it for yourself. Pull up a chair and the rest will follow.
