BIASA Art Presents From the Archives of a Collector #3 Exhibition

Pen Angelina Agata
Calendar Dec 19, 2025

Archival exhibition showcasing collaborative murals, drawings, and sculptural works celebrating Indonesian street art legacy.

At the heart of this edition is a movable mural, first shown in our earlier exhibition, Open Daily in 2008 (reference attached). The artwork was the result of a collaboration performed by Farhan Siki, Arya Pandjalu and Samuel Indratma. The artists were active in the 90’s playing an important role in the Yogyakarta street art movements. Spanning 2.5 by 12 meters, the large mural was a site specific work, completed over two weeks, using a variety of materials like recycled cardboards and spraypaint. Also on view are 23 drawings from Farhan Siki’s Untitled Series, alongside two works from his Fusion Series, both series have never been exhibited before.

While BIASA Art has built lasting relationships over the years with the artists exhibited, the collection has continued to grow. In this exhibition, we are showing life-sized papier-mâché figures from Arya Pandjalu. These figures were considered as the alter-ego of the artist, who was nicknamed ‘bird-man’ after his signature character that he created during the exhibition entitled ‘Garden of Delight’ that previously presented in our Jakarta and Seminyak space (reference attached). From Farhan’s intimate sketches to large-scale collaborative murals, this archival exhibition once more celebrates the ongoing collaboration between BIASA ART and the multifaceted Indonesian contemporary discourse.

About the Artists

Farhan Siki

Born in 1971, Farhan Siki graduated from Cultural Studies of Jember State University, Indonesia in 2000. Siki is recognized as a street artist and an activist who works intensively on issues facing the urban community. In his artistic work, he reflects about the Pop Culture of the 21st Century, exploring textual elements, collecting logos, brands and symbols of mass culture, in order to prepare them on canvas, charging them with hyperbolic attributes and parody. He is currently based in Jogja.

Arya Pandjalu

Born in 1976, Arya Pandjalu is one of the most influential artists in Indonesia. Arya studied printmaking in Indonesia’s Institute of Arts, Yogyakarta, his work combines a lot of media and mediums from installation, performance, print making, painting, sculpture and performance. His works reflect his personal life experiences, common problems that we would find in our daily life that we hardly noticed as we pass by it. Arya has participated in several local and international projects and exhibitions.
