Anthology of Indonesian Music returns at L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo, celebrating Indonesian music heritage through live jazz performances by Nada 1928.

Following the success of six previous editions of Anthology of Indonesian Music, L’Atelier by Cyril Kongo continues its commitment to preserving Indonesia’s rich musical heritage. The program returns with an elevated concept titled ‘A Timeless Symphony: Indonesian Treasure’.

This edition welcomes Maestro Budi Utomo Prabowo, the creative force behind the first series of Anthology of Indonesian Classical Music, in partnership with esteemed Indonesian composer Aksan Sjuman. The program features reinterpreted classics performed by Nada 1928.

Taking place at the resort’s iconic elevated bar, the event transports guests to the 1950s through a curated selection of timeless Indonesian compositions. More than a nostalgic performance, the evening unfolds as an intimate musical journey punctuated by an insightful talk segment, in which Aksan Sjuman and Budi Utomo Prabowo explore the historical narratives and cultural significance behind each piece.

Joining them on stage is multi-talented jazz producer Andreas Arianto, who leads a set of more than 10 songs alongside Pankrasius Savio on piano, Louise Mitak on bass, Rio Herwindo on viola and Roy Setiawan on drums, rounded out by a full vocal lineup of Ras Gito, Ope Dahlan, Eka Wirayanti, and Lyta Lautner.

The Anthology of Indonesian Music program draws its inspiration from the definitive musical bibles authored by the Jakarta Arts Council, a collaboration between influential figures including Aisha Sudiarso-Pletscher, Aksan Sjuman, Anusirwan, and Budi Utomo Prabowo.

These works chart the evolution of Indonesia’s soundscape, beginning with the Anthology of Indonesian Classical Music: Vocal and Piano Seriosa in 2013, followed by the Anthology of Indonesian Music: Jazz and Popular Music in 2017. Together, these archives provide a comprehensive perspective on the nation’s musical heritage.

"With every edition of Anthology of Indonesian Music, our desire to go deeper only grows - to present the music, the full power and story behind it, particularly for younger generations who deserve to know this inheritance. At The Apurva Kempinski Bali, we have never seen our role as simply building a hotel or curating experiences that revolve around our own facilities. We are here to leave a legacy, to contribute meaningfully to Indonesia's cultural craftsmanship and to ensure its stories endure." stated Vincent Guironnet, General Manager of The Apurva Kempinski Bali.
