In a cultural landscape that continues to evolve, BIASA Art strives to remain one of Bali’s most consistent and quietly influential platforms for contemporary expression. The first half of 2025 reaffirmed this position through a trio of exhibitions and collaborations that bridged material exploration, ritual, and community, each reflecting the gallery’s enduring commitment to depth, dialogue, and artistic freedom.

Under the Ray of Purnama (VR#20)
Group Exhibition | 8 June – 31 July 2025 *(Ongoing Exhibition)
In collaboration with Honold Fine Art and V-Room, Under the Ray of Purnama presents works by three Indonesian artists: Mangku Muriati, Naomi Samara, and Agni Saraswati.
The exhibition is anchored by the symbolic presence of the full moon (purnama) as a metaphor for dignity, myth, and inner life. Mangku Muriati, a Balinese priestess trained in Kamasan painting, brought forward spiritual iconography rooted in ancestral tradition. Naomi Samara, who divides her time between Bali and Berlin, offered layered visual narratives drawn from multicultural influences and personal memory. Agni Saraswati, based in Yogyakarta, combined formal experimentation with conceptual depth, often referencing historical art movements alongside local nuance.
Together, their works formed a constellation of perspectives. Distinct in voice, yet collectively resonant in their exploration of identity, femininity, and poetic expression.

KELAPA – Palm Cycle
Christyne Forti | 21 February – 21 April 2025
Early in the year, BIASA Art presented a solo exhibition by Christyne Forti, featuring seven sculptural gowns made from ‘kelapa’, coconut palm bark. Working outside the conventions of both fashion and sculpture, Forti hand-stitched each piece using bark collected from her garden, embracing an organic process shaped by intuition and material presence.
These works invited reflection on natural cycles—transformation, decay, and renewal—and offered a tactile reminder of the beauty in the overlooked. Neither wearable nor ornamental, the pieces stood as meditations on time and impermanence.

Ubud Open Studios 2025
BIASA Art as Host Venue | 22–25 May 2025
In May, BIASA Art took part in Ubud Open Studios 2025 by hosting the event’s opening night and serving as one of two central venues throughout the three-day program. In addition to welcoming visitors into its gallery space, BIASA Art presented a curated selection of works by participating artists, offering the public an accessible entry point to the broader showcase of studios across Ubud.
The gallery’s involvement reflected its ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue, supporting local creative ecosystems, and providing space where artistic process and presentation meet in a shared context.
Looking Ahead
As BIASA Art moves into the second half of the year, its focus turns to new collaborations, evolving curatorial approaches, and deeper engagement with the relationship between art-making and materials. Upcoming exhibitions will continue to build on the gallery’s core values while opening space for new voices, expanded mediums, and unexpected encounters.
