ARC Sudirman Presents Toru Oyama and Jakarta Sinfonietta in “Echoes Across the Sea"

ARC Sudirman, in partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia and Jakarta Sinfonietta, presents Echoes Across the Sea on Saturday, 29 August 2026, at Sudirman Hall, Sequis Tower Level 2, Jakarta.

Featuring Japanese pianist Toru Oyama with Jakarta Sinfonietta, conducted by Iswargia R. Sudarno, the concert brings together music from Japan and the European classical tradition in a program that explores how musical ideas travel across cultures and generations.

The repertoire features works by three of Japan’s most recognized composers: Toru Takemitsu, Joe Hisaishi, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, alongside compositions by Mozart and Walton. Hisaishi, widely known for his music for Studio Ghibli films including Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, brings a familiar contemporary voice to a program that moves between Japanese and Western classical repertoire.

Through the collaboration between ARC Sudirman, the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, and Jakarta Sinfonietta, Echoes Across the Sea reflects a shared commitment to cultural exchange through live performance and forms part of ARC Sudirman’s growing 2026 concert program.
