A practical guide to Eid Prayer locations in Bandung 2026, highlighting major areas where large congregations may lead to road closures and traffic…

Eid al-Fitr morning in Bandung brings a festive atmosphere as thousands gather for Eid prayer across mosques, city squares, and open spaces. Along with the celebrations, several major roads are temporarily closed or experience heavy congestion, particularly in central and high-density areas. Here are some key locations to note when planning your movement around the city on Lebaran morning.

Alun - Alun Bandung

The area around Alun-Alun Bandung and Masjid Raya Bandung is one of the largest gathering points for Eid prayer in the city. Every year, thousands of worshippers fill not only the mosque and square but also spill over into surrounding streets such as Jalan Asia Afrika, Jalan Dalem Kaum, and Jalan Dewi Sartika. Road closures typically begin early in the morning, and the area becomes fully pedestrianized until after the prayer ends, making it one of the busiest spots in Bandung during Eid.

Balai Kota Bandung

For the first time in 2026, Balai Kota Bandung will host Eid prayer at its plaza, following an initiative by the city’s mayor. This new venue is expected to draw large crowds, especially with a public open house scheduled after the prayer. Streets around Jalan Wastukencana and Jalan Merdeka are likely to experience closures or restricted access, with increased security and traffic control measures in place throughout the morning.

Masjid Istiqomah (Jalan Citarum)

The surroundings of Masjid Istiqomah Bandung also transform into a prayer area, with congregants extending onto nearby roads, particularly Jalan Citarum. Road closures usually start around 5 AM and last until approximately 7 AM. After the prayer, the area remains lively with parked vehicles and street food vendors, which can continue to slow down traffic even after roads reopen.

Gasibu Field

Gasibu field  is one of the most popular open spaces for Eid prayer in Bandung, attracting large crowds from across the city. The field and its surrounding areas are typically filled with worshippers, and nearby roads such as Jalan Diponegoro are often closed or heavily restricted. Due to its scale, congestion can extend beyond the immediate vicinity, especially before and after the prayer.

Masjid Pusdai

Located nearby, Masjid Pusdai Jawa Barat also holds its own Eid prayer, drawing a significant number of attendees. The mosque complex and surrounding streets, including Jalan Cilamaya, usually experience partial closures and dense traffic. As both Pusdai and Gasibu attract large congregations, the entire area becomes one of the busiest zones in the city during Eid morning.

Masjid Raya Al Jabbar

In the eastern part of the city, Masjid Raya Al Jabbar has become one of the most prominent Eid prayer destinations. While full road closures are less common, access roads including Jalan Cimincrang and surrounding Gedebage routes typically experience heavy traffic and diversions. Visitors should expect significant congestion, particularly before and after the prayer.

Lodaya Field

Lodaya field  is also frequently used as a large open-air prayer venue. The surrounding streets usually see localized closures and an increase in pedestrian activity, especially from nearby neighborhoods. Traffic in this area can become slow-moving during the early hours of the morning.

Beyond these main locations, Eid prayer is held in hundreds of smaller venues across Bandung, including residential streets, community fields, and mosque courtyards. These local gatherings often result in temporary neighborhood-level road closures that may not be widely announced but can still affect traffic flow in certain areas.

Most road closures begin between 5 AM and 6:30 AM, with peak activity occurring during the prayer time around 6:30 to 7:30 AM. Conditions generally return to normal after 8 AM, although some areas may remain busy slightly longer due to post-prayer activities.
