Bandung, August 1, 2026 — The Papandayan Jazz Management (TP Jazz) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesia's jazz scene through TP Jazz Universe, a program dedicated to bringing together Indonesian and international jazz musicians. This commitment continued with the performance of contemporary French jazz duo WATCHDOG, presented in collaboration with the Institut Français Indonesia (IFI) Bandung, at Suagi Grand Ballroom, The Papandayan Hotel Bandung, attended by approximately 200 guests.
Since its launch, TP Jazz Universe has grown beyond a concert series into a cultural exchange platform that connects jazz artists from different countries and musical backgrounds. Through collaborations with international cultural institutions, including IFI Bandung, the program creates opportunities for Indonesian musicians to share the stage, exchange ideas, and celebrate jazz as a universal language.
WATCHDOG's performance in Bandung was part of the French Jazz Tour 2026, an annual initiative organized by the Embassy of France in Indonesia – Institut Français d'Indonésie (IFI). Now in its fifth edition, the tour has become one of the leading French-Indonesian music exchange programs, connecting musicians, jazz festivals, cultural institutions, and creative communities across Indonesia. This year's tour includes six cities—Bromo, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Bali—with The Papandayan Jazz Festival serving as one of the official festival partners.
The evening opened with a performance by the David Manuhutu Trio, setting a warm and engaging atmosphere through a modern jazz repertoire before welcoming WATCHDOG to the stage. The duo—Anne Quillier on Fender Rhodes, Moog, and vocals, alongside Pierre Horckmans on bass clarinet and clarinet—presented original compositions that blended improvisation, rich sonic textures, and contemporary jazz influences. Their genre-crossing musical approach offered audiences a fresh listening experience while showcasing jazz as an ever-evolving form of artistic expression.
Throughout the performance, the audience responded with great enthusiasm. The intimate setting of the Suagi Grand Ballroom created a close connection between the musicians and the audience, making the evening both entertaining and inspiring for jazz enthusiasts.
For TP Jazz Management, TP Jazz Universe represents a long-term commitment to creating a stage that goes beyond live performances by encouraging cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and a deeper appreciation of jazz in Indonesia. TP Jazz Universe featuring WATCHDOG is also part of the Road to The Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF) 2026, leading up to the festival's main event on October 3–4, 2026, at The Papandayan Hotel Bandung. The festival will once again bring together musicians, jazz communities, and music lovers from Indonesia and around the world.
