Bandung, April 2026 – ARTOTEL Suites Aquila presents an international contemporary dance performance titled “Body Switch: Migration, Identity, Hybrid Bodies,” in collaboration with Goethe-Institut and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The program features contemporary choreographer Ruben Reniers alongside 20 students from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Held on Thursday, 9 April 2026 at 8 PM at ARTOTEL Suites Aquila, the performance is designed as a public work-in-progress presentation. This format allows the audience not only to watch the show, but also to gain insight into the creative process and take part in discussions with the artists.

“Body Switch” explores themes of migration, identity, and hybrid bodies through expressive movement and integrated musical composition. The piece reflects how migration and cultural encounters can be translated into physical expression within contemporary dance.
With an interactive approach, the audience is invited to engage beyond being spectators, joining conversations and exchanging ideas with the creators about the artistic process and meaning behind the work.

Ruben Reniers, a contemporary choreographer born in Jakarta and raised in Rotterdam, is known for combining dynamic movement exploration with intimate and reflective approaches. A graduate of CODARTS Rotterdam, he has performed in various theaters and art festivals across Germany and Europe.
Anton Susanto, General Manager of ARTOTEL Suites Aquila, shared that this collaboration reflects the hotel’s commitment to supporting art and culture in Bandung. “Through programs like this, we aim to create unique experiences for both the public and our guests, while opening space for creative collaboration between international artists and local communities,” he said.
Matthias Ventker, Director of Goethe-Institut Bandung, added that the Body Switch workshop highlights how artistic collaboration can open new perspectives on migration and identity—through the body, sound, and shared experiences. He emphasized that this initiative is not just a one-time event, but the beginning of an ongoing exchange.

Ruben Reniers also expressed his appreciation for Goethe-Institut Bandung, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, and ARTOTEL Suites Aquila for their collaboration and support in bringing the workshop and performance to life. He highlighted the strong creative synergy and the welcoming experience he and his family had during their time in Bandung.
Through international-scale art programs like this, ARTOTEL Suites Aquila continues to strengthen its position as an art-focused hotel in Bandung, actively supporting the growth of the creative industry and cross-cultural collaboration.
