The series of events leading up to The Papandayan Jazz Festival (TPJF) 2025 returned in full swing. This time, The Papandayan presented PAZ, a special collaboration featuring three renowned musicians from three different countries: Kostas Patsiotis (bass, Greece), Nita Aartsen (piano, Indonesia), and Adam Zagórski (drums, Poland). Held at TP Stage, The Papandayan Bandung, the performance delivered an evening of jazz filled with emotion, improvisation, and cross-cultural energy.

Each musician brought their own distinctive style, blending harmoniously on stage. Kostas Patsiotis, a double bassist and composer from Athens, Greece, is known for his melancholic yet hopeful playing style. His debut album, October, reflects a deep exploration of human emotions.
Meanwhile, Indonesian jazz pianist Nita Aartsen, who has graced numerous international festivals, once again showcased her mastery in combining classical and jazz elements with a touch of Indonesian nuance. As an ambassador of Indonesian jazz culture, Nita is also actively involved in elevating young musicians to the international stage.
Completing the trio, Adam Zagórski, a drummer and composer from Poland and President of the Bel Canto Association, brought intricate rhythms and expressive dynamics to the performance, backed by his experience performing in over 20 countries.

In his remarks, Bobby Renaldi, General Manager of The Papandayan and Founder of TP Jazz Management, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration:
“We have always believed that jazz is a universal language.
The collaboration between Kostas, Nita, and Adam tonight is not just a musical performance, but a celebration of cultural connections forged in the spirit of TPJF. It reflects TP Jazz’s more than decade-long journey, packaged in ‘Culture Resonance’.”
PAZ’s performance took the audience on a harmonious musical journey. TP Stage transformed into a space for creative exploration, where national and genre boundaries seemed to fade into a single collective rhythm.
“Playing jazz in a group requires the same mood, intelligence, adaptability, and the ability to listen to one another. That’s where the music flows. We speak through our instruments,” said Nita Aartsen between her piano pieces.

The evening became even more special with the appearance of 11-year-old pianist Amenangi Waworuntu, who performed two songs alongside Kostas and Adam.
A STAGE FOR WORLD-CLASS JAZZ MUSICIANS
The Papandayan has proven its reputation as a world-class jazz stage through the Road to The Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF) 2025 series. Across its three editions this year, The Papandayan’s stage has become a meeting point for both international and local musicians, showcasing energy, harmony, and cultural exchange that put Bandung on the global jazz map.
The series began on July 11, 2025 with Savana Funk, a funk trio from Italy blending funk, rock, blues, and African rhythms. Known as one of Europe’s most energetic live acts, Savana Funk delivered groove-filled pieces such as Ghibli, Ayat, and Timbuktu, inviting the audience to dance and enjoy a vibrant music party atmosphere.
On July 20, 2025, the contemporary French jazz trio ROUGE—featuring Madeleine Cazenave (piano), Sylvain Didou (double bass), and Boris Louvet (drums & electronics)—enchanted the audience at Mirten Lounge. Performing tracks from their 2024 album Vermeilles, ROUGE fused jazz, 20th-century classical music, and modern pop-folk into cinematic, emotionally charged arrangements. The performance was also part of the 75th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between France and Indonesia, in collaboration with the Institut Français Indonesia.
The third edition, on August 8, 2025, featured PAZ, uniting three musicians from Greece, Indonesia, and Poland in a cross-cultural musical dialogue enriched by creative improvisation and highlighted by the special performance of young pianist Amenangi Waworuntu.
The Road to TPJF 2025 serves as a powerful prelude to the 10th The Papandayan Jazz Fest on October 4–5, 2025, reinforcing The Papandayan’s position as “The Address of Jazz in Bandung” and a premier destination for international jazz.
