Sökhi, a jazz group well-known for their performances in local and international festivals, opened the festival at the Endless Stage with their song “Lagu Gembira,” set against the lush backdrop of green trees—marking the beginning of the Gaia Music Festival 2025 series.

The festival kicked off warmly with a performance by Guernica Quartet, who delivered a captivating jazz repertoire. Their presence was the perfect opener, offering high-quality music and setting a solemn yet spirited atmosphere. Next up was Arumtala, a duo that brought a different musical color to the stage. “The venue's vibe is so magical—it made playing feel really enjoyable!” said Arini, one half of the duo, after their performance.

 

They invited the audience to sing along to their quirky hit “Gagal Diet” (Failed Diet), a relatable anthem for many who struggle with dieting. Arumtala’s performance further highlighted the musical diversity offered at Gaia Music Festival, appealing to a broad range of music lovers.

Trisum

 

One of the most anticipated acts of the night was Trisum, a jazz supergroup formed in 2004 that never fails to impress Indonesian audiences. Known as a "jam session band," Trisum once again demonstrated their dynamic synergy. Comprising three of Indonesia's renowned guitarists—Tohpati Ario Hutomo, I Dewa Gede Budjana, and I Wayan Balawan—they delivered a rich and surprising set, including a jazz arrangement of the traditional East Javanese folk song Cubla-Cublak Suweng, much to the audience’s delight. “Playing at GMF has such a refreshing vibe—it makes the whole set really fun,” said Tohpati after their performance at The Gaia Hotel Bandung.
