Spending Saturday night indulging in a cross-continental culinary adventure turned out to be one of our best decisions. The Restaurant at The Trans Luxury Hotel welcomed us with World’s Flavor Vol.1: From Italy to the Middle East, a special dining program featuring Chef Ahmed Rabea Taha– the man behind the bold, vibrant flavors of the Middle East that now enrich the menu.
The previous Italian menu had already carved a special place in our hearts, and this new chapter promises to do the same. We kicked off dinner right at 6 PM with a bowl of Lentil Soup. Truth be told, it was our first time trying it and to our delight, it was unexpectedly addictive. Made from lentils, the soup wasn’t trying to impress with flair, but it knew exactly what it was doing: warm, humble, and deeply comforting.

Leaving behind a dish that good wasn’t easy, but the universe had more in store. Italian favorites like Braised Beef Brisket and Roasted Beef Panini Sandwich were still available, reminding us why we fell in love with this series in the first place. The dinner felt like a journey across continents. Starting with the bright, tangy notes of Italian cuisine, where rich tomato sauces, aromatic herbs, and creamy cheeses come together in a perfect embrace. Just as your taste buds settle into that familiar warmth, you’re whisked away into the bold, earthy spices and fragrant allure of Middle Eastern fare.

From the moment we arrived, one dish stood out: the Arabic Ouzi Lamb. A signature from the Arab world, the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with flavors that had soaked all the way to the center. In the BBQ section, we found more Middle Eastern gems like Beef Kofta — a standout favorite — and Chicken Shish Tawook, served with sauces ranging from mushroom and barbecue to black pepper and beyond.

The Chicken Shawarma came out warm and fresh, the meat carved to order and stuffed with well-balanced fillings wrapped in soft pita bread. We paired it with garlic mayo sauce, and let’s just say; it hit all the right notes. With so many dishes and such bold flavors, we were deliciously overwhelmed. But nothing spoke louder than seeing guests from the region nodding in approval as they savored every bite — a sure sign of authenticity done right.

When we say this dinner felt like traveling across continents, we mean it. The menu didn’t stop at Italy and the Middle East — there were also Sushi, Roasted Duck, and a rich lineup of Nusantara dishes to please every palate. And for the perfect ending? A sweet selection of desserts, from Baskin Robbins Ice Cream to classic Tiramisu.

This is the kind of dinner experience that doesn’t come around often, and one you’ll want to return to. With over 200 dishes on offer, World’s Flavor Vol.1: From Italy to the Middle East is available every Saturday night from 6 to 9 PM, priced at IDR 388,000 net per person and IDR 218,000 net for children under 12.
