Japanese fashion retailer UNIQLO has officially opened its first store in Malang, located on the first floor of Mall Olympic Garden (MOG). Marking its 84th store in Indonesia, the opening represents another step in UNIQLO’s efforts to become more accessible to local communities and bring its LifeWear collections closer to customers in Malang and nearby areas.

UNIQLO opens its first Malang store at Mall Olympic Garden

From early morning, customers gathered at the store to celebrate its opening day. The event began with a Taiko performance, a traditional Japanese percussion show, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Ryohei Sato, Co-COO of PT Fast Retailing Indonesia (UNIQLO Indonesia); Kevin Politon, Store Manager of UNIQLO MOG Malang; and the first customer of the new store.

During the opening, Ryohei Sato expressed his excitement about bringing UNIQLO closer to the people of Malang. He explained that the new store is not only about expanding the brand’s presence but also about understanding the needs of the local community. Through LifeWear, UNIQLO aims to provide comfortable, high-quality, and functional clothing for different daily activities while growing together with the people of Malang.

New users of the UNIQLO app can receive a Welcome Coupon worth IDR 25,000, which can be used for both in-store and online purchases with a minimum transaction of IDR 250,000. Customers can also receive an exclusive UNIQLO tumbler, available in four colour options, with every purchase of IDR 699,000. This offer applies to multiples of the minimum purchase amount and is available while stocks last.

In addition, 500 customers each day who spend at least IDR 1,000,000 will have one chance to play Gachapon. Special prizes include products from UNIQLO’s collaboration with Toko Meru, a local small business from Malang.

UNIQLO’s connection with the local community goes beyond its store opening. Through the UNIQLO Neighborhood Collaboration (#MALANGNEIGHBORHOOD), the brand features products from six selected local small businesses in a dedicated area inside the store.

The collection highlights the creativity of Malang’s local makers, including accessories made from textile waste, wooden and epoxy resin crafts, crochet products, patchwork creations using leftover fabrics, and traditional Malang masks.
