Indonesian passport holders should take note of a new change to Vietnam’s visa-free entry policy. The visa exemption period, which previously allowed stays of up to 30 days, has now been reduced to 14 days starting 15th July 2026.
The Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi announced the revised visa policy through its official social media channels.
“Holders of ordinary Indonesian passports can now enter Vietnam without a visa for a maximum stay of 14 days, specifically for tourism and family visits, in accordance with the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Visa Exemption for Ordinary Passport Holders,” the embassy stated.
The Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi added that travellers planning to stay in Vietnam for more than 14 days, or those visiting for purposes other than tourism and family visits, must apply for the appropriate visa according to Vietnam’s immigration regulations.
Travellers are advised to take note that the 14-day visa-free period begins on the day of arrival. Any extension beyond this timeframe requires proper authorisation, as overstaying may result in fines, deportation, or limitations on future visits.
According to Vietnam’s official e-visa system, travellers can apply for an electronic visa valid for up to 90 days, available for either single or multiple entries.
Applicants must complete an online form and pay an e-visa fee of US$25 (approximately Rp450,000) for a single-entry visa or US$50 (approximately Rp900,000) for a multiple-entry visa.
Foreign travellers using an e-visa must enter and exit Vietnam through designated international border checkpoints approved by the government.
