SATE NUSA SAMBAL BANGSA: Oakwood PIK Jakarta and HARRIS Puri Mansion Jakarta Celebrate Indonesian Independence Through 10 Traditional Satay Dishes from Sabang to Merauke

In celebration of the 81st Independence Day of Republic Indonesia, Oakwood PIK Jakarta, Harris Puri Mansion Jakarta, and KARA present a unique culinary experience titled “Sate Nusa Sambal Bangsa.” Held on Friday, 7 August 2026, at Harris Puri Mansion Jakarta, the event celebrated the richness of Indonesian cuisine while highlighting the spirit of collaboration and appreciation for the country’s diverse culinary heritage.

Inspired by a culinary journey from Sabang to Merauke, Sate Nusa Sambal Bangsa featured 10 varieties of traditional satay from different regions across Indonesia, paired with 10 distinctive sambal creations specially prepared to complement the unique characteristics of each dish.

The culinary collaboration brought together three chefs representing each participating partner: Chef Idrus from Oakwood PIK Jakarta, Chef Zan from Harris Puri Mansion Jakarta, and Chef Andreas from KARA. Together, the three chefs showcased their creativity by preparing a selection of satay and sambal while preserving the authentic characteristics of each region’s culinary tradition and adding contemporary touches to the dishes.

The 10 traditional satay varieties featured during the dinner included:

  • Sate Matang – Aceh

  • Sate Padang – Sumatera Barat

  • Sate Jando – Bandung

  • Sate Buntal – Solo

  • Sate Madura – Madura

  • Sate Lilit – Bali

  • Sate Tanjung – Lombok

  • Sate Kuah – Pontianak

  • Sate Garo – Sulawesi

  • Sate Maranggi – Purwakarta

Beyond enjoying the dishes prepared by the three chefs, guests were also invited to take part in an interactive sambal creation experience, where they could create their own sambal according to their personal preferences. This activity offered guests a more engaging culinary experience while showcasing the incredible diversity of flavors found in Indonesian sambal.
