More Than Just a Space: CURATED LIVING Comes to ASHTA District 8
A space is shaped not only by its walls and furnishings, but also by the stories, emotions, and experiences that unfold within it. Inspired by this philosophy, ASHTA District 8 presents CURATED LIVING, an immersive showcase exploring how art, design, and lifestyle intersect to create more meaningful spatial experiences.
Running from 3–26 July 2026, CURATED LIVING invites visitors to discover new perspectives on how we see, experience, and embrace everyday life through thoughtfully curated environments.
Under the theme "Where Design Meets Lifestyle," CURATED LIVING presents a series of experiences that demonstrate how art extends beyond gallery walls to become an integral part of living spaces and everyday routines. Through collaborations with leading artists, designers, and interior practitioners, the exhibition bridges artistic expression with functional living, creating inspiring experiences that resonate with contemporary urban lifestyles.

Alaya Kala: Art, Design, and a New Way of Experiencing Space
As the centerpiece of CURATED LIVING, Alaya Kala takes over Melting Pot, Ground Floor, presenting an immersive exhibition that brings together the sculptural works of Indonesian artist Adi Gunawan with thoughtfully curated interior design.
Presented by SANKHARA in collaboration with POLA Studio EST. 2016, Theory of Living, and Quatro Design Studio, Alaya Kala creates a living environment where art and interior design coexist harmoniously, illustrating how both disciplines can continuously enrich one another while redefining the meaning of space.
Derived from Sanskrit, Alaya means a place of refuge, while Kala means time. Together, the name represents a space that preserves journeys, traces, and memories.
The concept draws inspiration from the cultural heritage deeply embedded in Adi Gunawan's artistic journey in Yogyakarta, reinterpreting traditional Javanese architectural elements—particularly the Joglo house—into a contemporary spatial experience. Alaya Kala brings together values, memories, and cultural heritage in a setting that speaks to modern life.
Through this multidisciplinary collaboration, Alaya Kala becomes a meeting point between art, design, and cultural heritage, offering a contemporary interpretation of how collective memories can be transformed into inspiring experiences. Visitors are invited to explore how carefully curated spaces influence the way we perceive, feel, and engage with our surroundings. Every element has been thoughtfully composed to unite aesthetics, functionality, and everyday living into one cohesive experience.

Beyond The Walls: Art Between Every Space
Complementing CURATED LIVING, Beyond The Walls expands the artistic experience into the Connecting Langham area.
Built on the idea that art should not be confined within exhibition spaces, the installation features five contemporary sculptures strategically placed throughout the area to create unexpected encounters. Along visitors' journeys, these artworks become moments to pause, observe, reflect, and form new connections with art within the context of everyday life.
Through CURATED LIVING, ASHTA District 8 further reinforces its commitment as a lifestyle destination that delivers thoughtfully curated experiences through art, design, and community. More than simply presenting an exhibition, the campaign invites visitors to discover how intentionally designed spaces can transform ordinary moments into meaningful experiences while inspiring new ways of living.
CURATED LIVING will be held at ASHTA District 8 from 3–26 July 2026 and is open to the public.
