Still part of the celebration marking Wilsen Willim’s 10 years of creative work, the journey of creating his first couture collection, Algorithm: Universal Language, is documented in a 6-episode documentary series titled “Reinventing Tenun: Journey to Algorithm.”

“Reinventing Tenun: Journey to Algorithm” follows Wilsen Willim, a young fashion designer who travels to four regions across Indonesia on his mission to develop sustainable traditional textiles. The documentary features Songket Weaving from Jembrana, Bali, Garut Silk Weaving from South Bandung, West Java, Dayak Iban Weaving from Kapuas Hulu-Putussibau, West Kalimantan, and Minang Songket from Halaban, West Sumatra.

Not only traditional textiles, Wilsen also highlights other collaborators who participated in the creation of his 10th-anniversary collection and his first couture collection, “Algorithm: Universal Language.” They include Christina Harjanto from Ecotouch (a producer of recycled denim fibers), Eva Oemah Batiqu (a Batik Ciwaringin artisan from Cirebon), Cannesia Soekotjo from leather goods brand Peau, Inggrid Saidbun from footwear brand Bocorocco, Diatri Mitha and Valerie Hadiningrat from accessories brand Subeng Klasik, as well as Ms. Tasya Kusnadi representing Yayasan Kawan Lama and Ms. Sjamsidar Isa as a mentor and textile enthusiast, as well as Chairwoman of the Indonesia Fashion Designer Council and advisor to Cita Tenun Indonesia.

Directed by young filmmaker and photographer Jibril Erlangga, the documentary not only showcases the journey across Indonesia but also the process through which these recycled traditional textiles were transformed into couture pieces and presented on the fashion stage at the ballroom of Hotel Mulia on 8 July 2026 and at the Re-See event at Rumah Heritage Jakarta on 9 July 2026. This documentary series will premiere as a combined 56-minute and 57-second film in a limited screening at XXI Plaza Indonesia, coinciding with Wilsen Willim’s 33rd birthday, followed by a limited screening for students at FLIX ASHTA District 8 on 24 August 2026.
