Host Mangrove Education & Planting in Commemoration of
World Environment Education Day 2026
In commemoration of World Environment Education Day 2026, HARRIS Puri Mansion and Oakwood PIK Jakarta held a Mangrove Education & Planting activity at the Mangrove Ecotourism Center PIK, North Jakarta. This initiative reflected the strong commitment of both properties to supporting early environmental education and the preservation of coastal ecosystems.
The event was conducted in collaboration with SDN Kembangan Utara 04 Pagi and involved 20 students who were introduced to the mangrove ecosystem, covering topics such as the definition of mangroves, their ecological functions, and their important role in maintaining environmental balance and preventing coastal abrasion.
As part of The Ascott Limited Indonesia, which prioritizes sustainable programs, this activity was carried out under the Ascott CARES initiative, a global program focused on environmental stewardship, community engagement, and sustainable governance.
The event was officially opened by Mr. Budhi Sanjaya Djunaid, General Manager of HARRIS Puri Mansion and Oakwood PIK Jakarta. In his remarks, he expressed strong support for environmental education initiatives and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the hospitality industry, educational institutions, and environmental organizations in building environmental awareness among the younger generation.
The program continued with an educational session and mangrove planting activity led by professional facilitators from Yayasan Mangrove Indonesia. The students received interactive explanations about the benefits of mangroves for the environment, followed by hands-on practice planting mangrove seedlings in the conservation area. To further encourage enthusiasm and interaction, the activities were complemented by engaging games.
The event concluded with a communal meal and the distribution of merchandise, creating a warm and meaningful atmosphere of togetherness among the students, accompanying teachers, hotel teams, and all parties involved.
A representative from SDN Kembangan Utara 04 Pagi expressed appreciation and gratitude to HARRIS Puri Mansion and Oakwood PIK Jakarta for providing a valuable opportunity for students to learn directly in nature and to foster environmental awareness from an early age.
Through this initiative, HARRIS Puri Mansion and Oakwood PIK Jakarta hope to continue contributing sustainably to environmental conservation efforts and to inspire various stakeholders to work together in protecting the planet for future generations.
