Archipelago Hotels Brings Moments of Joy to Children Battling Cancer
The Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative is part of Archipelago Hotels’ commitment
to supporting children at Yayasan Peduli Kanker Anak Indonesia through creative and interactive activities.
For children undergoing cancer treatment, the support and togetherness of those around them can be deeply meaningful. As the largest privately owned hotel management group in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, Archipelago Hotels brought together 22 hotels in East Java through the Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative to create meaningful moments of togetherness for children at Yayasan Peduli Kanker Anak Indonesia (YPKAI), Surabaya. The initiative featured a range of culinary and creative activities designed to create a joyful atmosphere and foster a sense of togetherness.
Through this initiative, Archipelago Hotels created warm and memorable moments for the children through nutritious food and enjoyable culinary activities. Held at Yayasan Peduli Kanker Anak Indonesia, Surabaya, the Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative brought together the F&B teams from Archipelago Hotels to prepare food and beverages for the children.
The activity began with a cooking demonstration led by the chefs from Archipelago Hotels. During the session, the chefs demonstrated the preparation of two dishes, namely Chicken Katsu Sando and Potato Chicken Egg & Vegetable Salad, while the F&B Service team prepared two beverages, namely Banana Probiotic and Pineapple Berry Booster.
After watching the cooking demonstration, the children were invited to get creative by preparing their own food and beverages according to their individual creativity. This activity gave them the opportunity to try for themselves what had been demonstrated by the chefs and F&B Service team in a joyful and engaging atmosphere filled with togetherness.

We want to create enjoyable and memorable moments for the children, while showing that care can be expressed through togetherness and joyful experiences. We hope this initiative can provide support and encouragement to the children and families who are facing this journey,” said John Flood, Chief Executive Officer of Archipelago Hotels.

This initiative involved teams from Archipelago Hotels properties across East Java. This cross-hotel collaboration is part of Archipelago Hotels’ spirit of working together to make a positive contribution to the community through the expertise, time, and care they have to offer.

Ongoing Support Through Fundraising
The Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative is also part of Archipelago Hotels’ efforts to provide ongoing support for children battling cancer. Donations raised through fundraising activities involving 22 hotels in East Java and the Archipelago Hotels Corporate Office are used to support the foundation’s needs, including purchasing essential items such as children's beds, milk, and other daily necessities. Through this support, Archipelago Hotels hopes to help meet daily needs while providing sustainable benefits for the children and families under the foundation’s care.
