INSPIRED BY TWININGS’ LEGACY DATING BACK TO 1706
Shangri-La Jakarta presents The Twinings Heritage Afternoon Tea, an exclusive culinary collaboration celebrating Twinings’ enduring heritage and showcasing the hotel’s distinctive culinary craftsmanship through a refined afternoon tea experience. Set in the tranquil surroundings of the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, this experience invites guests to step away from the pace of everyday life and rediscover the simple pleasures of tea, conversation and thoughtfully crafted delicacies.
With a history dating back to 1706, Twinings has built a distinguished legacy rooted in its expertise in tea blending and commitment to quality. The brand received its first British Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1837, marking an important milestone in its longstanding association with the British Royal Household. Today, its heritage continues to inspire tea lovers around the world through a collection of celebrated blends that bring together tradition, craftsmanship and distinctive flavour.
Inspired by this remarkable legacy, The Twinings Heritage Afternoon Tea reimagines the tradition of tea drinking as a refined culinary experience. Surrounded by lush garden views at the Lobby Lounge, guests can enjoy a serene setting away from the bustle of Jakarta, making it an ideal destination for leisurely afternoons, intimate conversations and moments of quiet indulgence.
As part of the launch celebration, Shangri-La Jakarta collaborated with Tila Rangkai on a floral arrangement inspired by the natural elements and fruits featured in the afternoon tea selection. The collaboration brought together floral artistry and culinary inspiration, celebrating the beauty of nature through a thoughtful interplay of colours, textures and flavours.
At the heart of the experience is a selection of sweet creations inspired by six Twinings tea varieties, developed under the direction of Chef Lucia Halik, Pastry Chef at Shangri-La Jakarta. Each tea variety inspires a unique pastry creation that reflects its distinctive character. The refreshing notes of Peppermint are expressed in Chocky Fudge, while the delicate profile of Pure Camomile inspires Eggy Tart. Darjeeling lends its distinctive character to Chocolate Cherry, while Pure Green Tea is reimagined in Matcha Mousse. The fragrant notes of Green Tea Jasmine complement the tropical combination of Coco Coconut & Pineapple, while the bright citrus character of Lemon Scented Tea inspires Berry Raspberry Shortbread. Together, these creations offer a contemporary interpretation of tea through the art of pastry-making.
Complementing the sweet selection is an assortment of savoury bites that brings together a variety of flavours and textures. Guests can enjoy Pie Tee with pomelo and avocado, Wonty with shrimp, Bagel with smoked salmon and Choux with Parmigiano cream. The selection also includes Sandy creations featuring ham and cheese, as well as chicken and cucumber. These savoury offerings provide a delightful balance to the sweet delicacies, completing the afternoon tea experience.
