Gran Meliá Jakarta unveils an elegantly curated celebration that honours tradition, prosperity, and meaningful connections

-

As the Lunar New Year 2026 approaches, Gran Meliá Jakarta unveils an elegantly curated celebration that honours tradition, prosperity, and meaningful connections. Designed with refined presentation and thoughtful detail, this year’s festive offerings invite guests to welcome the season through elevated gifting and sophisticated shared dining experiences—where time-honoured customs are expressed with contemporary grace.

At the heart of the celebration is Tien Chao, Gran Meliá Jakarta’s signature Chinese restaurant, a destination defined by its refined Cantonese foundation—the familiar, elegant flavours long cherished by our discerning guests. Rooted in the comfort and balance that define luxury Cantonese dining, Tien Chao respectfully preserves its most beloved signature dishes while introducing a thoughtfully curated section inspired by Executive Chinese Chef Michael Yu’s culinary journey across China, highlighting his West China heritage. These regional expressions are presented as gentle discoveries rather than bold departures, ensuring approachability while adding depth and character. Through this balance, Tien Chao remains unmistakably Cantonese at heart, yet uniquely its own—where tradition, craftsmanship, and the chef’s personal story come together to honour the past, delight the present, and subtly invite exploration beyond the familiar.

Complementing this culinary narrative, Gran Meliá Jakarta presents an exclusive Lunar New Year 2026 Hampers Collection, the symbolic Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng, and specially crafted Fire Horse Lunar New Year set menus, available at El Bombon Gourmet & Pastry and across the hotel’s dining venues. Each offering has been thoughtfully designed to reflect both the elegance of festive gifting and the warmth of communal celebration.

The Chinese New Year 2026 Hampers Collection is available from 28 January until the end of February 2026, with orders requested at least one day in advance. The Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng and Lunar New Year set menus are available exclusively from 16 February to 23 February 2026, served during lunch and dinner, by prior reservation only.

The Prosperity Hamper (IDR 699,000++) features Gran Meliá Jakarta’s Signature Prune Lapis Legit Cake, symbolising layered success and sweetness for the year ahead. The Golden Nian Gao Hamper (IDR 899,000++) celebrates growth and abundance with traditional Nian Gao, Santang Orange, and Chocolate Coins—symbols of progress, fortune, and prosperity. The Fortune Hamper (IDR 1,499,000++) brings together Kue Keranjang, the Signature Prune Lapis Legit Cake, and a selection of Signature Cookies, symbolising unity, success, and togetherness.

For guests wishing to welcome the New Year through a shared dining ritual, the Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng is presented in Medium (IDR 498,000++) and Large (IDR 698,000++), offering a refined interpretation of this cherished Lunar New Year tradition.

Further elevating the celebration, Gran Meliá Jakarta introduces curated Lunar New Year set menus, thoughtfully crafted by Executive Chinese Chef Michael Yu for joyful gatherings. The Golden Harmony Set is available for six persons at IDR 5,928,000++ and for ten persons at IDR 9,880,000++, while the Lunar Indulgence Set is offered for six persons at IDR 7,080,000++ and for ten persons at IDR 11,800,000++.

Enhancing the festive atmosphere, Gran Meliá Jakarta will host vibrant Barongsai and Lion Dance performances on 16 February from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, followed by an evening performance on 17 February from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Touring the Lobby, restaurants, and public spaces, these performances create an immersive and celebratory experience throughout the hotel.

In conjunction with the festivities, Gran Meliá Jakarta presents its Chinese New Year 2026 creative campaign under the Gran Meliá brand of Meliá Hotels International. This year marks the brand’s fifth consecutive collaboration with renowned Chinese artist and illustrator Shirley Gong, reinforcing Gran Meliá Hotels’ enduring commitment to artistic expression and culturally resonant storytelling.

Together, these Lunar New Year offerings form a harmonious expression of tradition, taste, and togetherness. Gran Meliá Jakarta invites guests to experience the festive season not merely as a celebration, but as a meaningful journey—one of prosperity, gratitude, and connection.
