OKU Jakarta: A Decade of Zen and the Art of Gastronomic Discovery

 

In the heart of a city that never stops moving, OKU at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta remains a sanctuary of stillness. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the restaurant continues to stand as Jakarta’s premier destination for those seeking the "exalted and sacred" within the everyday.


Since its debut in April 2016, OKU has served as a masterclass in the Japanese philosophy of its namesake, a concept that implies something abstract, profound, and "least accessible". It is a space designed not just for dining, but for a journey through the "layers of an onion," where every encounter encourages the guest to search deeper.

 


A Decade of Simplicity and Elegance


To honor a decade of "simplicity and elegance," OKU’s culinary team has created a curated collection of thought-through creations designed to bring out the fullest flavor of each ingredient. The 10th Anniversary “OKUKASE” consists of a 10-course experience, utilizing premium ingredients meticulously prepared as a tribute to Japanese cooking techniques, authentic flavors, and a profound sense of the season.

 


This culinary journey begins with an exquisite Negitoro Pave amuse-bouche, followed by a Shiromi Carpaccio with delicate Ponzu Foam and the rich, aromatic Smoke Gyu Zabuton with Shishito. The experience deepens with Chizu Tori Katsu and a pristine sashimi trio of Chutoro, Amaebi, and Kyushu Soy, transitioning into a soul-warming Tarabagani Teppou Jiru.

 


The narrative continues through a curated Sushi Gallery featuring Hotate Yuzu, Kinmedai Shoga Joyu, and decadent Otoro Caviar with Kizami Wasabi. After refreshing the palate with a Lime Kiwi Sorbet, guests are invited to choose between the Signature Chirashi Chazuke or the indulgent Wagyu Truffle Foie Gras Don, a dish that epitomizes OKU’s philosophy of showcasing the natural beauty of ingredients. This decade-defining feast concludes with a charming Green Tea Sakura dessert, capturing the essence of a "true OKU moment".

 


The Mastermind Series: Multi-Layered Libations


Proudly showcasing a beverage concept rooted in "Japanese bartending technique based on traditional Japanese spirits," OKU’s bartender team has prepared 10 cocktails from the signature ‘Mastermind Series’. These libations are primarily mixed with Japanese Sake, Shochu, and Umeshu, crafted specifically for the OKU atmosphere. Aligning with the restaurant's namesake, each drink is designed to be multi-layered, allowing guests to experience multiple flavors and perfect balance in every sip. 

 

The 10th Anniversary “OKUKASE” is available for a limited time from 13 April until 12 May 2026 at IDR 1,800,000++ per person.
