Surabaya, July 27, 2023. Felix Agustinus, a chef de partie at Grand Dafam Signature Surabaya hotel, has successfully won a bronze medal in The 13th Salon Culinaire Chef's Competition at the Food & Hotel Indonesia 2023 exhibition held at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta, today.
The culinary competition, participated by a total of 681 talented contestants from various countries including Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, and Belgium, and judged by 31 renowned international chefs and 28 Indonesian judges, featured 31 competition categories, including the "Fish Main Course" category where innovative fish dishes took the spotlight and were the main criteria for evaluation by the judges.
As the head cook at Preveire Bar, Felix captured attention with his creative dish named "The G," which featured a preparation of Sablefish known as Gindara fish combined with tabasco and apple sauce.
"I feel grateful and fortunate to represent Grand Dafam Signature Surabaya hotel in competing with participants from seven other countries and have the opportunity to be assessed by international judges," said Felix.
Fajar Basuki, the General Manager of the 4-star hotel located on Kayoon street, also expressed appreciation for his team, as achievements like this further enhance the reputation and presence of the hotel.
"We are incredibly proud of Felix's achievements in various cooking competitions. This pride complements the achievements of our kitchen brigade under the guidance of our Executive Chef, Chef Pardi. Litania Utami, the Public Relations Manager of Grand Dafam Signature Surabaya, revealed that this is the second medal brought home by Chef Felix in 2023, having previously won a bronze medal at the ICA Chef Expo 2023 held during the 16th Indonesian Chef Association (ICA) at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on May 10-13.
